The Open Group, the vendor-neutral IT consortium, has launched the Open Business Architecture (O-BA) Preliminary Standard Part I, an Open Group standard, at The Open Group Austin Event on July 18th.

This is the first release of a three part standard designed to improve alignment, governance and integration between the different aspects of business transformation projects.

The Open Group ArchiMate® Forum will make available the latest version of the ArchiMate Specification®, version 3.0, with a series of announcements and events to take place throughout the months of June and July.

The latest evolution has the following new features:

The Open Group, the vendor neutral IT consortium, has announced the launch of its new IT4IT™  Reference Architecture Standard at its conference in Edinburgh.

The Open Trusted Technology Provider™ Standard (O-TTPS), a Standard from The Open Group for Product Integrity and Supply Chain Security, has been approved as ISO/IEC International Standard.

It is one of the first standards aimed at assuring both the integrity of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) information and communication technology (ICT) products and the security of their supply chains.

The Open Group launched the The Open Group IT4IT™ Forum to provide a vendor-neutral environment for IT executives to meet, gain knowledge and lead the development of the IT4IT Reference Architecture for IT portfolio management.

The Open Group has established the Open Platform 3.0™ Forum to help organisations to take advantage of the convergence of modern technologies like Cloud, Social, Mobile Computing and Big Data. Independently-developed web service solutions will very rarely work together “out of the box”, but there is an increasing need for such solutions to work together. Hence, the Forum aims to identify a set of new platform capabilities, and architect and standardise an IT platform so as to create a common architecture environment which will deliver integrated solutions.

The ArchiMate 2.1 Specification and supporting materials were released today. ArchiMate 2.1 is a maintenance update to ArchiMate 2.0, addressing comments raised since the introduction of ArchiMate 2.0 in 2012.

A summary of the main changes in this release include:

1. Additional explanatory text has been added in section 2.6 describing the ArchiMate Framework, its layers and aspects.

2. Corrections have been made to figures throughout the specification for consistency with the text, including metamodel diagrams, concept diagrams and example models.

The Open Group has announced their new Open FAIR Certification Program aimed at Risk Analysts. The certification program focuses on The Open Group Risk Taxonomy and Risk Analysis standards which have advanced the risk analysis profession by defining a standard taxonomy for risk, and by describing the process aspects of a rigorous risk analysis.

In order to become certified, Risk Analysts must pass an Open FAIR certification exam which is currently available at Prometric Centres. Training courses will be delivered through an Open Group accredited channel.

The O-TTPS is an open standard created through the collaborative work of the The Open Group Trusted Technology Forum (OTTF)™. It contains a set of organizational guidelines, requirements, and recommendations for integrators, providers, and component suppliers to enhance the security of the global supply chain and the integrity of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The Open Group's The Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) Consortium has released the FACE Technical Standard, Edition 2.0. This is an enhanced version of the open avionics standard for making military computing operations more robust, interoperable, portable and secure.

The FACE Technical Standard enables developers to create and deploy a wide catalogue of applications for use across the entire spectrum of military aviation systems through a common operating environment.
