Open Group soon to announce Exploration and Mining Business Capability Reference Map

The Open Group Exploration, Mining, Metals and Minerals Forum (EMMM) is in the process of approving the Exploration and Mining Business Capability Reference Map. The map is a component of the Exploration and mining reference framework, and defines the standard set of business capabilities for this industry. The EMMM Forum provides a global collaborative platform to create standards for exploration and mining across all types of metals and minerals. Enterprise architecture specialist and South African representative of The Open Group, Real IRM, currently holds the position of Forum Director and facilitates the collaboration between EMMM members all over the world as they build industry reference models. The first exploration and mining business process reference model was approved as a technical standard of The Open Group in 2013 – a global first for the industry.

The Global Mining Standards and Guidelines Group (GMSG) has embraced the Exploration and Mining Business Reference Model, which was approved by The Open Group in 2013. This standard for the natural resources industry was developed by the The Open Group's Exploration, Mining, Metals and Minerals (EMMM) Forum.
